Working with Bee has been a wonderful healing experience. I was suffering from a lot of nervous dysregulation and was amazed to feel such big shifts after each session. I always felt heard and seen by her and most importantly safe. She creates a powerful container that allows you to unravel and go deep into the energetic body.

After each session I not only felt lighter but I gained new insights and most importantly new tools that will stay with me forever. Bee is a truly amazing therapist and space holder and I feel very lucky that she was my first experience of SE, as it was a very transformative journey that I will continue to go back to.

With a long and drawn-out battle with my mood, a big car crash (and its residual psychological/physiological effects) and a disastrous meditation retreat under my belt, I began getting some additional support from Bee. I had recently begun traditional psychotherapy and I was sceptical of medical professionals (with some past negative associations), Bee and her set up, provided a warm and safe feeling, non-clinical environment to talk things through.

From the Start, Bee put me at ease, in what was a particularly challenging time of my life, where trust and scepticism was rife. After a Zoom Q and A, done out of generosity, her manner, curiosity and gentle but definite knowledge of her discipline, give me the assurances I needed to begin working together in a trust-based environment of shared introspection.

Despite cautions about the “work” required and time it takes, within the first few sessions, experience of nervous system “discharge” was experienced, clarifying the legitimacy of S.E. in my sceptical mind. This was achieved through mindfulness on bodily sensations, while discussing the lead up to a traumatic event (my car crash); the process is called “titration”. This provided a great sense of relief that my situation could change and lived improvement of my day-to-day experience.

After a few months of sessions, my initial aims outlined at the start had been achieved. I had learned not to fixate on my tinnitus, that had been exacerbated by the crash and subsequent meditation course. Additionally, I could sit through uncomfortable, triggering experiences I have while driving, without losing control and descending into a panic attack. Finally, I also learnt to manage the tingling sensations in my extremities (hands and feet) which had become so noticeable post meditation retreat.

Most of these outcomes were produced by being guided through cycles of my nervous system going through different levels of “activation”, this again was not possible without the trust Bee gave me, I had serious reservations about focusing inward following a meditation retreat, which led to amplification and not “habituation” of the senses. During this process I learnt and could rationalise my experiences through being taught about “fight, flight freeze” responses, the “feed and breed” response and the “rest and digest” response.

This provided a framework for understanding my body and mind in different situations and how to resource or even induce a “rest and digest” response through “resourcing” and not letting my mind interrupt my nervous system move through its various states. A consequence of this is I could understand that the lethargy felt in depressed states could be prevented through allowing the body to slow down and then wake up before being caught in a state of perpetual rest.

I can’t thank Bee enough for her gentle, kind and understating style which was free of judgment throughout. S.E. with Bee struck the perfect balance of communicating and imparting knowledge, while being open to my personal narratives. The experience helped me get back on track, while encouraged me to grow more curious, gentle and open minded.

Bee, Thank You!
